Abdal Hakim Murad

Dean of the Cambridge Muslim College and Chair of the Cambridge Central Mosque

Abdal Hakim Murad, b.1960, is dean of the Cambridge Muslim College, which trains imams for British mosques. He is also Chair of Trustees of the Cambridge Central Mosque.

His books include Commentary on the Eleventh Contentions (2012), Turkish Sacred Songs (2015) and Travelling Home: essays on Muslims in Europe (2020).

Abdal Hakim Murad regularly leads Friday prayers at the Cambridge central mosque, and has preached in major mosques in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Spain, and the United States. Recordings of his lectures are widely available online. His articles have appeared in The Independent, the London Evening Standard, the Daily Telegraph, The Times, the Catholic Herald, Islamica, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, and Prospect. He has also been a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day
